Coronavirus is having a profound effect on all our lives. The Government advice is stay at home, save lives. NHS and front line workers however are putting their health and even their lives on the line everyday serving the nation…THEY DESERVE A MEDAL!

Touch of Ginger like most businesses has shut the doors, but we want to do something to help. As specialist designers of recognition gifting we know the importance of rewarding extraordinary acts of skill, courage and commitment. We have created three items that might just go some way in recognising the amazing job being done by front line workers on our behalf right now.

Tribute to Key Workers

Key Workers from postmen and truck drivers to food bank staff and warehouse operatives across the UK have been doing their jobs as usual despite the coronavirus crisis. The ‘key worker’ term has been the subject of much contention in recent weeks, as many people now deemed essential were previously taken for granted.

We’re now learning just how important they are, as well as how many of them are still hard at work so we can stay safe at home.

Unsung heroes

For Key Workers we propose the production of a polished silver and gold dual metal medallion in recognition of their essential contribution and daily risk taking. The crown-sized medal features a Coronavirus motif on the front face, resembling cogs turning within cogs. The rear of the medallion is engraved with clapping hands applauding the ranks of designated Key Worker categories.

Touch of Ginger is looking at ways to communicate the idea of a Key Worker Medallion. We are contacting Government ministers and MPs, and we have even written to the Palace for support.

Our hope is that we can launch the programme and have the medallions funded by the sale of a special ‘Clap for Carers’ pin badge that can be purchased by the general public through supermarket chains.
